"Peoria residents voiced concerns and asked questions regarding suggested improvements to Grand Avenue at an Arizona Department of Transportation open house this week.
Suggested improvements to the 3 1/4 -mile stretch of road include new streetlights, landscaping in medians, decorative wall fencing along the railroad side and additional right-turn lanes for better traffic flow.
Peoria City Councilman Dave Pearson said he was happy to see the plan include an eight-foot-tall decorative fence along a popular railroad crossing that Peoria High School students use to get to school."
