"California utility company officials are making their case to residents of the far Southwest Valley today for a new power line connecting California customers to a power plant roughly 17 miles west of Buckeye.
Southern California Edison again is trying to win approval for the 225-mile, 500-kilovolt electrical line from a substation near Palm Springs, Calif., to a switchyard near the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station.
The line, dubbed 'Devers-Palo Verde No. 2,' would follow the path of an existing company power line, which begins in California and ends at the nuclear plant, but would hook up to a separate generating station."
