"The West Valley will soon have its first Level III neonatal intensive-care unit at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale.
Currently, women who go into extremely premature labor are most often transferred to hospitals in Phoenix or Mesa to get the necessary level of care.
Thunderbird's NIC-U expansion to a 35-bed unit will allow its medical staff to handle premature births of 28 weeks and less. A full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks."
